Congrats Jena! You’re beautiful inside and out! This shout-out goes to you.
Here’s a little Q&A with Jena:
What was the main problem you struggled with before joining (or your main reason for wanting to make a change)?
I was at a Crossfit gym for 2 years prior to joining Edge Body Bootcamp (EBBC), and the main reason for leaving was because I didn’t really see a change in me physically in those 2 years. Paleo was really the only ‘healthy eating’ plan they encouraged, and it was very difficult and expensive. I quickly fell off the Paleo train, and thought eating Smart Ones was healthy enough! I wanted to find a gym that still challenged me with high intensity workouts, but would also help me with weight loss.
Were there any reservations about getting started at EBBC? Anything that held you back?
The only reservation that I had was I actually had plans to join another gym that wasn’t quite open yet, but my friend Jen asked if I would try out EBBC with her. A friend of her’s mentioned she liked the work outs, and there was a trial to check it out. If it wasn’t for her, I probably would have never tried EBBC as I thought it was too far out of my way, so thanks Jen :). After the first month, I knew I definitely wanted to stay, and have no regrets!
What was the first meeting like? What was the determining factor in choosing our gym?
I knew I liked EBBC from the first workout. It had all the things I enjoyed doing at Crossfit but without the heavy lifting (which I didn’t care for anyway). The workouts really push you, mentally and physically, but no matter how sore I am, I am always ready to go back for more! I also really liked the coaching, and the community, that I have met at EBBC. Each coach has their own personality, but they all make sure we are doing the movements safely and correctly.
What were some of the benefits, both physically and mentally that you gained since beginning training?
Benefits physically: Even though I am not at my lowest weight, I am in single digit pants! (which I don’t ever remember buying, even in high school). I feel stronger and actually ran my first 10K in June 2016 (and I am definitely not a runner!).
Benefits mentally: Improved self confidence, better sleep, better attitude and outlook on life.
How did training here help you achieve these results? What was different about the process at EBBC that really resonated with you?
The nutrition class and the 2 weight loss challenges that we had at the beginning of the year really kicked things in gear for me. What I thought was healthy or clean eating, was not even close to the things I learned in the Nutrition class. I feel the trainers are very personable, really care about us as individuals, and really push you to do your personal best. Their invested in us reaching our goals.
Would you recommend training at EBBC to others that are currently in the position that you were in before you started with us? If so, why?
YES! No doubt I would recommend EBBC to others as the amazing coaching, killer workouts, and encouraging community is what makes this the best gym in Omaha!
