Lori Bickford is one of those machines in the gym! Oh and did I mention that she’s 54 years old and has pushed herself to lose over 100 pounds??? The most important part about Lori’s fitness journey is that it started only a couple years ago. I hear people all the time say:
- “Well that’s what happens when you get older.”
- “This weight gain is normal so I’ll just have to live with it.”
- “I can’t do that! I’m not 25 years old anymore.”
Lori made the commitment to herself and has never looked back. She has not only achieved amazing weight loss, but she is STRONG and doing things in the gym that I am sure she never imagined herself doing several years ago. She puts in the work in the kitchen and in class every day. Couldn’t be more proud of all she continues to accomplish!

Here is a little Q&A with our Member Spotlight of the Month: Lori Bickford
What was the main problem you struggled with before joining (or your main reason for wanting to make a change)?
My journey started initially at age 51. My older son was engaged and a wedding was a few months away. I got some free training sessions and was sucked in to working out. Then I eventually got referred to Edge Body Boot Camp about 8 months ago and I am glad I did!
At age 54, I felt I wanted to take my fitness level to an even higher level with a professional training program in all areas of fitness and nutrition. Edge Body was the place to give me these opportunities.
Were there any reservations about getting started at Edge Body Boot Camp? Anything that held you back?
I had no reservations about Edge Body Boot Camp at first, and it has been a wonderful experience!
I do believe it is hard for some people to capture the high-intensity training concept if they are not used to a fitness program, but I had been working out prior and Missy did a great job of explaining the benefits of high-intensity training.
What was the first meeting like? What was the determining factor in choosing Edge Body Boot Camp as your gym?
The determining factor for me was the members all seemed to have a positive fitness attitude. Several people, and all the coaches, encouraged me and interacted with me in the very first class! The coaches get to know the members by name and their individual fitness levels. They inspired me to excel! Missy told me it’s not about who finishes the workouts first; it’s just finishing the workout that counts! Never give up on yourself because everyone is a beginner on the first day they try something new!!
What were some of the benefits, both physically and mentally that you gained since beginning training at Edge Body Boot Camp?
My goals started a couple of years ago, but my results really became noticeable after joining Edge Body. I have lost 100 lbs, and the added strength and conditioning helped me to add lean muscle mass and continue to improve my body composition – not just lose weight. The “lean” look really improved in my last 8 months with Edge Body. The nutrition coaching helped as well!
Other benefits I’ve gained are:
- Having unlimited access to variety of trainers who know me on a first name basis!
- All the workouts challenge me and push me to what I am capable of. I’m never bored, plus the group classes help keep me motivated!
- They provide nutrition coaching, goal tracking and strength and conditioning information.
- I have a wonderful fitness family who interact numerous ways – in person, Facebook, etc. Everyone at all age groups interact with each other at the gym and outside the gym! Edge Body has a lot of positive energy and I’ve developed some lasting relationships.
Would you recommend training at Edge Body Boot Camp to others that are currently in the position that you were in before you started with us? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend Edge Body Boot Camp to others and I have! Some people don’t make personal fitness a priority, but if you want to see results you have to commit yourself. It starts from within, but when you’ve made that choice finding the right place makes it happen! It has helped so much to receive the encouragement from fellow members and my coaches at Edge Body! I constantly thank them for all they do.
